Ran setup again and added Excel feature and it installed. I have the exactly same problem on win7 x64, and I have solve it by reset some of the services by default settings. However, I am not sure which services cause this problem. By installing a new win7 in virtual box, the office installs without any error. I try other solution mentioned in previous replies, but the problem still occurred. After modified some services setting, this problem solved and office installed successfully.

Did you stop one or some of the following services? I personal think the problem is cause by Task Scheduler being disabled which i stop it manually with xp-antispy, but I set all of the above services to automatic.
